The Centre for Applied Research (CAR) Pty.Ltd. was established in 2000 in response to the growing demand for high-quality research and consultancies. The Centre is registered in Botswana and located in its modern, fast growing capital Gaborone. CAR is a majority citizen-owned company, and it is ideally located to serve Botswana and southern Africa because:

 

 

The Centre’s staff and associates have considerable regional and international experience, and CAR can draw upon its local, regional and global networks to carry out work in other countries.

New projects:

 

The note on Climate Change and Adaptation in Botswana (2011), to which CAR contributed, won a World Bank Green Award. The ceremony is later in 2011 in Washington DC.

 

The Okavango Water Audit Project -coordinated by CAR for OKACOM and FAO - is ongoing. Specialists in Angola, Namibia and Botswana are working on the project (www.okacom.org).

 

The Makgadikgadi Framework Management Plan was launched at Lekhubu Island on the 2nd of June 2011 by the Minister of Environment, Wildlife & Tourism.

 

A new GEF funded project to prepare a Green Paper on Human-Wildlife Conflicts for DWNP.
