The Centre for Applied Research (CAR) Pty.Ltd. was established in 2000 in response
to the growing demand for high-quality research and consultancies. The Centre is
registered in Botswana and located in its modern, fast growing capital Gaborone.
CAR is a majority citizen-owned company, and it is ideally located to serve Botswana
and southern Africa because:
Botswana lies in the centre of southern Africa, and has excellent connections and
communications with southern African countries.
Gaborone offers an attractive environment for regional activities and for the Centre’s
growth due to the stable political climate, good governance and liberal foreign exchange
Gaborone hosts the secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC)
and has become the “Brussels” of southern Africa.
